Online Course Development I Need That Course—Yesterday!

The situation
This publisher had the need for speed. It was mid-November and the course developer went AWOL—just six months prior to publication, and with not one lesson completed! So this client turned to O'Donnell & Associates to create an online grammar course with 120 lessons, each consisting of a presentation and 4 or 5 interactive exercises.

The process
O'Donnell & Associates worked with the publisher to identify candidates to write the lessons. Within several weeks, a team of 10 subject matter experts (SMEs) were recruited. Our project manager used WebEx to train the SME team and sample lessons were underway. Then, the project manager delved into our well of expert freelancers to find and train a team of development editors who line-edited every lesson and ensured an effective scope and sequence. Another team at O'Donnell & Associates turned the SME lessons into storyboards, where they were sent to an offshore vendor for production, and returned for review by our quality control team.

The results
