The situation
The Advanced Placement market is growing by leaps and bounds. This publisher decided to leverage their best-selling college textbooks into the Advanced Placement courses. O'Donnell & Associates was ready and able to help this client investigate the opportunity and deliver products that meet the market need.
The
process
O'Donnell & Associates began with a comprehensive research study and review of the market. Based on market feedback, we worked closely with our client to plan and design a series of test prep books and teacher resources to enhance their textbooks.
We recruited and hired superstar teachers to write the content. In keeping with our development model, we created, reviewed and edited samples for each book. Then, we created a design template for the series. O'Donnell & Associates managed the authors, reviewed and accuracy-checked the content, ensured that the final product adhered to the plan, created line art, laid out pages, copyedited and proofread the pages. Finally, we turned printer-ready PDF files over to the publisher.
The results
O'Donnell & Associates enabled its client to create a new line of products without taking in-house focus away from its core products--textbooks. And, these self-study workbooks books are a huge success. They help teachers and students to prepare for the exam, without taking excessive in-class time on “teaching to the test”. And, they have helped the publisher launch a profitable new line of business.
