The situation
An online content aggregator had aggressive growth targets. To meet
those goals, the management team needed to closely track its competitors,
as well as potential strategic alliances and acquisitions. But,
in a fast-growing entity, who has time?

The process
O’Donnell & Associates helped this client make smarter
decisions by providing timely information coupled with insightful
analysis. First, we researched and worked with a client to draw
up a list of about 50 companies that could be competitors, partners
or acquisition targets. We created a brief profile of each company
including a synopsis of its business, management team, and its recent
partnerships and acquisitions. We conducted SWOT (strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats)
analysis on the top 20 companies. Every month, we updated the intelligence,
keeping our client abreast of news and happenings in these companies,
and adding/deleting companies as the industry changed.
The results
Our client’s team knew where to look when they needed to make
a decision. The information was provided to them in hard copy, and
posted on the O’Donnell & Associates password-protected
Website for easy access to the company’s traveling management
team. This enabled executives to quickly check out the company before
a key meeting.
Armed with this intelligence, the client was able to acquire several
companies, build a handful of critical strategic alliances, and
boost sales in a brief time period. O’Donnell & Associates
