Last week the Pew Internet and American Life Project released a new study showing the share of adults in the U.S. who owned e-readers had climbed to 12%, while the number of tablet owners was only 8%. Immediately, the debate began as to whether or not the hype around tablets was actually justified or simply another bit of marketing push by Apple. And what were educators thinking, by the way, when it came to advocating the purchase and use of tablets in schools?

To Kindle or Not to Kindle for College Textbooks?

We know that digital textbooks haven't taken off as much as we might have thought, despite their obvious price benefits.  I think that is because they have to be more than cheap and portable.  They also need to create a more flexible experience.

Last week there was an article in The New York Times on the ever-burgeoning array of e-book formats, which got me thinking once again about digital textbooks and how to sort through the log jam of devices.    I recently bi
