Flat World Knowledge Celebrates Free Comic Book Day With a Graphic Novel Approach to College Textbooks

Free sample chapters of Tales of Garcon: The Franchise Players and University Life: A College Survival Story are available to read online on Flat World's website. Like Flat World's popular Atlas Black business management series, Tales of Garcón and University Life are co-authored by Jeremy Short, graphic textbook innovator and management professor at Texas Tech University.

Graphic novels are book-length works that are targeted toward adult audiences and widely read by college students. In recent years, educators have incorporated the graphic novel format into many university courses as a way to captivate students' attention and appeal to visual learners.

Later this year, Flat World plans to offer its graphic novels under the same Creative Commons open license as the rest of its catalog. Under an open license, students will be able to read the graphic texts in their entirety for free online, as well as purchase print copies for a nominal fee.
